• GROUP SHOW curated by Martina Mazzotta and Lavinia Galli
The exhibition explores the relationships between art, nature and wonder through the phenomenon of the Wunderkammer, notes “Chambers of Wonder” by late Renaissance.
The exhibition is quite distant from the traditional icon-logic perspective; it crosses different situations and moments of the history of art, collectors, science, philosophy, with an interdisciplinary approach that starts from the sixteenth century and comes up to the contemporary. Twentieth century art, in fact, and specifically the art of certain avant-garde, has regained a system of wonder that the advent of modern science had removed. Juxtaposing to works and artifacts belonging to the sixth-seventeenth century contemporary art presences, the exhibition aims to stimulate the viewer to trace analogies, references and correspondences between the meanings involved in the multifaceted and complex phenomenon of the Wunderkammer.
Many artists in the exhibition including Gianfranco Baruchello, Maurizio Cattelan, Damien Hirst, Jannis Kounellis, Piero Manzoni, Mario Merz, Pino Pascali.
