CRITICA IN ARTE: CHIARA LECCA. MAR Museo d’Arte della Città | Ravenna _ 2010 _ solo show

• SOLO SHOW curated by Claudia Casali

There isn’t a sense of grim or gruesome in Chiara Lecca’s work, but great passion for the natural and animal world, for relations between men and women, for sexual dynamics, which are expressed through an unconditional use elements, wastes, of the everyday domestic sphere…

In the Chiara Lecca’s early works, was felt the idea of transposition from the human world to the animal one, in a sort of primordial return to origins, annulment of inhibition, search of a primitive freedom but also analysis of human habits similar to those of animals, refined and softened…

In recent works, such as the Still Life series and Domestic Economy, you are hushed by a cocoon-like environment, belonging to another era. The furniture, the show cases recall our childhood, when in grandmothers houses that furniture or those small framed glasses with postcard or souvenir photo accompanied by dried flowers where to be found. The artist reconstructs the mood of the era with elements in taxidermy, playing on appearance, deception of the vision, since only approaching the works we discover their real nature…
